Harmony and Healing
Experience them in your life
“How am I going to make it through this?” That’s what international speaker and Christian Science practitioner Josh Niles asked himself after the first several days of intensive training in Army Ranger School. It’s not an uncommon question, when dealing with an imposing goal or overcoming severe adversity.
What did Niles do in this situation? He prayed. And in that prayer of opening his heart to God, he began to understand God as love itself. Niles felt a quiet, calm reassurance that the love of God, was present right there and then, supporting him and all of the students. That realization gave him the strength to continue and successfully complete the course.
In the years since, Niles’ experiences have convinced him that God’s love is real, reliable, and brings harmony. “What I felt in Ranger School wasn’t something special just for me, but something I’ve come to see as a divine law that governs all of us. It was God’s law of harmony in action,” says Niles. “This law is always in effect, as I’ve found over and over in my practice of Christian Science healing. When understood, it brings human consciousness in line with the divine reality of God’s ever-present love. This spiritual shift in consciousness adjusts for the better.”
Niles will present a talk, “The law of harmony and Christian Science healing,” 3:30pm, Sunday November 5 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, North Building 255 Front St. Toronto. His ideas come from the Bible, especially Christ Jesus’ teachings and examples about the love of God. He’ll also introduce concepts from a book that explains the practicality of God’s love to today’s pressing issues: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of Christian Science.
Josh Niles loves to serve others. This has led to activities like tutoring, coaching, teaching, as well as serving in the Army. Each of these, but specifically the Military service, significantly shaped his view of God as all love and of God’s unbreakable divine laws. It was there that he began to understand that the prayer-based system of healing called Christian Science can make a significant difference in the world. Since 2008, Niles has dedicated his full time to the healing practice of Christian Science. He is a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, traveling from his home in Boise, Idaho.
Worldwide, people are turning to prayer for healing but is prayer reliable? How does it work? Kari Mashos, practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing, says, “I’ve found the Biblical concept of God is foundational to understanding and proving the universal care we each have from our creator. I love to share how healing in our lives is possible.”
Mashos, a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, will be giving a lecture titled To be your own physician: the healing power of Christian Science on Sunday June 25, 2017 at 2:00pm, at 5th Church of Christ, Scientist, 28 Hendon Ave., Toronto ON M2M 1A2.
“In this lecture I am going to dig deep into discussing the healing method of Christ Jesus as found in Christian Science. I will show how to apply the divine metaphysics of Christian prayer,” says Kari, “I will share with you current examples of healing through God.”
The ideas shared in Mashos’ lecture are based on the teachings of Jesus as recorded in the Bible, and as discussed in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
It is Mashos’ growing faith and understanding of God which brings healing to her own life. Her study of Christian Science helped her to raise a family safely and effectively. Mashos was an opera singer for several years and also founded her own opera company to highlight social issues before devoting herself full-time to the practice and teaching of Christian Science healing. Mashos has appeared live on radio programs in the US, UK, and Australia and was interviewed for the Oklahoma public television documentary, “Chords of Memory.” She is also a frequent contributor to Christian Science publications, including the Christian Science Monitor. Mashos speaks internationally as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. Kari Mashos lives in Cape Neddick, Maine and in Athens, Greece.
There is limited free street parking but the TTC lot behind the church is FREE on Sunday.
