Why Everyone is Needed

Join us Saturday April 18 for a free, one-hour talk from Christian Scientist James Shepherd on our unbreakable connection to God and infinite Love. As we learn more about who we are–as God’s thoughtful, loved creation–our self-worth, purpose, physical health, and relationships are transformed.

Finding this new sense of our connection to God helps us bring healing to difficult world problems like political divisions and social inequality. Each one of us is connected to God. No one is left out.

James’s lecture discusses what our purpose is, where our worth comes from, and shares examples of how seeing ourselves and others as God sees us gives us a spiritual perspective that heals ourselves and our world.

Fifth Church Toronto auditoriumThe sermon is made up of selections from the Bible (King James Version) and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder of Christian Science. Together these two books are the pastor for Churches of Christ, Scientist, worldwide. This pastor speaks in a way that is relevant to all ages and cultures.

You, your family, and friends are all welcome to attend!

Sunday School

The Sunday School and nursery are temporarily closed.

Sunday School is available for young people from the age of 3 to 20. It meets at 10:30 a.m. (at the same time as the Sunday service), and young people from all denominations or no denomination are welcome.

Experienced Christian Scientists teach small classes using the Holy Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy as textbooks. Pupils learn how to apply Scriptural truths practically in their lives, and they share their healings and thoughts about Christian Science.

Nursery – for those too young to attend Sunday School, child care is available.

Wednesday Testimony Meetings

The one-hour Wednesday evening meeting begins at 7:30 p.m, and is currently held only online. If you wish to attend, please contact the church at fifthchurchtoronto@gmail.com. The meeting consists of readings on timely topics from from the Bible (King James Version) and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy. At Wednesday meetings, members of the congregation spontaneously share how Christian Science has effected healing in their lives.

Sacrament Sunday – On the 2nd Sunday of each January and July we hold a Sacrament Service at 10:30AM

On Thanksgiving Day in Canada, the 2nd Monday in October, we hold a Thanksgiving Service at 10:30AM. This service is made up of selections from the Bible (King James Version) and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. There is a period of time for the congregation to share ideas of gratitude and thanks for healings in their lives.

Our church is one of the many worldwide branches of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, established in Boston, Massachusetts in 1879 by Mary Baker Eddy.

It shows us that the understanding of God that heals all our challenges is not a secret recipe available only in Biblical times, but a demonstrable science that all can practice and use in daily life.
